Expensive items brought to YD: We do not advise that children bring expensive items of clothing or electrical goods to YD which may be lost of damaged. YD will not accept any responsibility for such items and does not have secure storage.
Specific activities: You must be able to swim 50m in order to participate in watersports, canoeing and kayaking activities. There is an inherent risk in all outdoor activities- rock climbing, caving, kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing etc. Whilst we take every effort to minimise this risk it can never be reduced to zero. Caving and batik and tie dye can ruin your clothes! Please wear old clothes for these.
Activity choices: Children will be placed whenever possible on their chosen courses, otherwise Youngdartington will offer an alternative course. If this is not acceptable and the client wishes to cancel their booking then the normal cancellation conditions apply (see above). If, after confirmation of a booking, the customer wishes to change an aspect of their booking, Youngdartington will endeavor to effect such an alteration. If this is impossible then the customer shall be bound by the original booking. All activities are subject to change according to weather, programming requirements and other considerations.
Safety: All participants are required to observe any safety regulations Youngdartington feels it is necessary to implement. All outdoor activities are run by centers and instructors who are registered and licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Regulations (1996). Local authority safety and equipment guidelines are observed. Courses are run by skilled, experienced and qualified instructors where such qualifications exist. The overall adult : child ratio meets LEA and national safety guidelines. All activities are risk assessed. All instructors are required to hold a current Criminal Records Bureau check and to present it to the management of Youngdartington. Youngdartington cannot accept responsibility for children outside of its operating hours: 0900 Monday morning until 1630 Friday afternoon for campers and 0900 – 1630 each weekday for non-campers. By prior arrangement these hours can be extended for non-campers.
Behavior: Youngdartington reserves the right to exclude or refuse any person at any time prior to or during the holiday if in our opinion that person is not compatible with the general enjoyment and well-being of Youngdartington.
Photos: During the course of a Youngdartington holiday a great many digital photos are taken of activities and participants. Parents have the right to request copies of any of these photos and to request that Youngdartington permanently deletes any photos which contain images of their children. Youngdartington will only use images of children in its promotional material (including printed and online) if permission is granted on the booking form.
